Blackcats hammer Rangers

The Bay City Blackcats hammered the Rosenberg Terry Rangers 11-1 on Tuesday, March 18, at Rosenberg. The Blackcats improved to 10-6 for the season and 3-1 in District 24-4A while Terry dropped to 0-4 in district. Bay City scored one run in the second and three in the top of the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. The Rangers scored their lone run in the bottom of the fourth. Bay City padded their lead in the fifth as they scored five runs and added runs in the sixth and seventh for the victory. Travis Tomek was the winning pitcher for the Blackcats and allowed only four hits and struck out 10 batters. D.J Dominguez went 2-for-3 for Bay City with a triple; double and 5 RBI's to lead the team in hitting. Derek Montgomery went 3-for-3 and Shaun Rutherford went 2-for-4 and 2 RBI's for the Blackcats.

Spartans nip Ricebirds in extra innings

The El Campo Ricebirds tied the game in the bottom of the seventh inning to take the game into extra innings with the Katy Seven Lake Spartans on Tuesday, March 18, at El Campo. The Spartans went on to win the game with a run in the nineth inning to win the game 3-2. El Campo dropped to 1-3 in District 24-4A while Seven Lakes improved to 1-3. Tony Montalbano was the winning pitcher for the Spartans while Matt Hamman took the loss for the Ricebirds.

Lady Shorthorns shutout Tigerettes

The Schulenburg Lady Shorthorns shutout the Tidehaven Tigerettes 11-0 on Tuesday, March 18, at Blessing to remain perfect in District 28-2A with a 5-0 record while Tidehaven dropped to 0-4. . Schulenburg scored four runs in the first inning, three in the fourth, and two runs in the fifth and sixth inning for the win. Avery Trojacek was the winning pitcher for the Lady Shorthorns and went 2-for-4 with a two run homerun.

Lady Hornets blowout Lady Bobkats

The Louise Lady Hornets blew out the Moulton Lady Bobkatz 7-1 on Tuesday, March 18, at Louise to improve to 1-1 in District 28-1A while Moulton dropped to 0-2. Cheynne Collins was the winning pitcher for Louise and pitched seven innings with seven strikeouts. Louise scored four runs in the first, three runs in the second for the win. Kelsi Kutac scored two runs and had two stolen bases for the Lady hornets.

Lady Apaches edge Sharkettes in nail bitter

The Sharkettes Ellaina Pena and Lady Apache's Shelby Wishert had a pitching duel going for five innings with Pena fanning 13 batters while Wishert struck out seven but in the bottom of the sixth Gonzales scored the winning run to break the deadlock. The Lady Apaches defeated the Sharkettes 1-0 to improve in District 29-3A to 2-0 while Palacios dropped to 1-1 on Tuesday, March 18, at Gonzales.
